About Linseed & Light

Hand-painted in Dafen, made for your wall

Linseed & Light is an online oil painting studio. Every painting we sell is painted by hand, in oil on canvas, by artists working in Dafen Oil Painting Village in Shenzhen, China, one of the world's best-known centres of hand-painted oil painting. Nothing we sell is a print.

We paint two kinds of work: custom portraits of people and pets painted from your photos, and collectible decorative paintings painted from the oil painting references you select. Both are painted only after you order, in the canvas size and frame you choose.

How we work

• Your photo, checked first. For portraits, we review your photo and confirm cropping or adjustments with you by email or WhatsApp before painting begins.
• Painted in 5–7 days. Our artists build each painting by hand in layers of oil paint. Framed orders take an extra 3–5 days.
• You approve it before it ships. We send you photos of the finished painting. If you are not happy, we revise or repaint it once, free of charge.
• Delivered with duties included. Shipping is free to the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia, and import duties and taxes are already included in the price. Transit takes 7–10 business days.

Why oil, and why linseed

Linseed oil is the traditional binder of oil paint: it is what lets pigment be blended, layered and glazed, and what gives a finished oil painting its depth and glow. Our name is a nod to that material and to the light it holds.

Who we are

Linseed & Light is operated by Yiwu Modudu E-commerce Co., Ltd., Zhejiang, China. Our painters work in Dafen, Shenzhen, and finished paintings are packed and shipped from Yiwu.
